Woodside
The town of Woodside is distinguished for having been the home of some of the first English-speaking settlers on the San Francisco Peninsula. Drawn by the areas mild climate, good water, and abundance of food, early settlers made their livings operating sawmills that provided lumber to the rapidly growing city of San Francisco to the north. Development has been gradual in this sleepy valley, and in 1956 the area’s residents voted to incorporate in order to maintain the area’s small town character.
Today, Woodside is charicterized by large land lots, abundant exposure to nature, and easy access to the bay area’s high-tech industries.
