Why you'd want to live in Mountain View

Mountain View, California is a flourishing Silicon Valley city that maintains a desirable town feel. An area that seeks to foster community, Mountain View boasts eclectic neighborhoods nestled amongst landscaped nature providing diverse tree foliage and views of the surrounding Santa Cruz Mountains. Mountain View maintains an active yet diversified local economy. Many technologically-advanced companies and biotechnology firms call Mountain View city home. While the city has only 4% of Santa Clara County’s population, Mountain View is headquarters to 11% of the county’s top companies: Google, Symantec, Synopsys, and LinkedIn. Throughout the 1940’s into much of the 1960’s Mountain View was primarily agricultural and home to expansive orchards and strawberry fields. Originally a stopping ground for travelers en route to San Francisco, the pioneering of this community eventually led to the establishment of the railroad along historic El Camino Real. Mountain View is one of the major Silicon Valley cities as many well known Silicon Valley companies are headquartered here. Of historical interest is the Fairchild Camera and Instrument Company which represented one of Silicon Valley’s earliest companies. Today the Googleplex provides free wireless Internet access network to the entire city; Mountain View was the first town in the United States to enjoy such coverage. Mountain View provides access to twelve public schools governed by the Mountain View-Whisman School District, Mountain View’s central public library, numerous parks, recreation events, neighborhood programs, and the arts. Just to name a few, Mountain View offers an all season Certified Farmer’s Market, community gardens, a yearly summer concert series, the Rancho San Antonio County Park and Deer Hollow Farm, and aquatics facilities and activity centers.
